Dave is getting tired of support mails.
I get oodles of mails like that, asking me all sorts of odd stuff. To ask@perl.org and to ask@develooper.com. Often it doesn't even have anything to do with perl. "How come I can't get C98++ to work?" And why is it I should know again? What is C98++ anyway?!
So anyway, my solution is using one of two tools:
1) Standard mail redirecting people to the lists and such. Just once I had to take the time to write a relatively nice and polite mail explaining that I don't have time and this and that resource will be better. If I didn't have the standard mail I would end up telling everyone "because you are a stupid asshole, shut the fuck up." and I would really rather not.
2) Just say no. "Do you know where I can find a program that will do [X]?". (where X usually is something you wouldn't want anyone to do anyway). "No, I don't."

ask@perl.org may appear to be a generic perl.org email address, beginner mailing list, some service akin to Ask Jeeves or whatnot rather than a mailbox owned by a guy named Ask.
