So, a few minutes ago I rebooted the onion.perl.org server. It had been up for almost 300 days and needed to pick up a new kernel. So now it's not coming up again... or it's taking forever. uhu. Scary scary. (it's ~50 miles away).

Oh; there it is. Now on to checking that stuff started properly.

no console gateway?

I somehow managed to patch a solaris box 1500 miles away with the wrong kernel once without a remote console...i realised it just after i hit ...the seeming hours between the patch and the boot are always a bit tense. :)

Solaris

At least on Solaris you have the LOM (or whatever it is they call it) stuff. Onion is an intel box without anything like that. It does seem to be more common to have some kind of serial interface to the bios and such now though.
