This morning my train departed early, and my Llama reading co-commuter missed his train. It's happened quite a lot of late - thankfully I've not been caught out yet.
To add insult to injury, the train arrived early in town, but was not able to enter the station because there had been a multiple-points failure on the London side, and so the train remained a tantalising few metres from the platform for a good 20 minutes.
While waiting, it was quite fun to watch everyone SMS their friends to let them know that they were going to be late. It's quite impressive how fast people can type on a numeric keypad, though I must confess I've never managed much speed even with predictive text switched on....
I suppose if there is no major investment in the railways for over 50 years, you can hardly expect the system to function correctly, but they could be a little more co-ordinated.
