For many reasons beyond my control, our summer holidays this year are about to start, and planning for them has barely begun. We managed to get tickets on a Brittany Ferry to St Malo in Brittany. Last time we were in Brittany we cycled to the east of St Malo, this time we plan to go to the west.
SNCF proudly proclaim that bicycles can be carried on most regional trains. In the UK bicycle carriage by most train companies has got particularly bad in resent years, however I did expect France, with it's modern infrastructure to be better.
Over the weekend my better half has been investigating train timetables on the awful - relies on Flash, SNCF website. It turns out that most trains in Brittany won't carry bikes, and the handful that do don't link up, so it's not possible to go anywhere sensible in one day!
