Went up to London to a London.pm social. Spent over an hour at Eurostar's badly managed London Waterloo terminal trying to buy some tickets (a long story), but finally made it to the pub with David's box.
Turns out the box contained a PDP development kit and manuals, which should keep David happy for a few hours, and if he gets bored I'm sure he can resell it on eBay without a problem.
Met a few people, all jolly decent folk, drank some beer, talked Perl/jobs, and watched tourists try to illuminate the Houses of Pariliament with the tiny flash on a compact camera.
