I need a new PC at home. I've put it off for over a year, and I'll probably continue to put it off until the village gets ADSL - should be this autumn if BT gets their arse into gear.
I'd mostly settled on the idea of getting an AMD "grey" box with Linux on it. I still plan to upgrade my old Sun, but that's for fun not actual use. I've now got urges to get a PowerMac G5, they looks so cool, and I want one! The old PowerMac G4s were underpowered and over priced, but the new G5s look on the money.
If I needed a notebook I'd get a Mac tomorrow, but I don't need another notebook. I'd consider a notebook if they play well with PS/2 KVM switches, but I think I'd rather get a more powerful box for my money than a portable one.
I've got a few months to wait anyway until I get ADSL, so I can see if AMD deliver anything nice in the next few months, to tempt me back to "commodity" computing.
