Last night I published our web site with Wget from the DEV box onto the QA box. Afeter watching the Apache/mod_Perl front end build the pages, and Wget assemble them, I then dutifully copied them up to a production server using SSH, where the Linux/Apache box was waiting and partially configured. I logged in (again via SSH) and ran the search indexer, and completed the Apache configuration.
The core technologies used included: Perl; XML::LibXML/LibXSLT; HTML::TreeBuilder; Cache::Cache; Wget; SSH; PuTTY; Linux; Apache; mod_Perl; PFE; HTML-Tidy; CGI and countless other high quality free and/or open-source tools. I don't dislike commercial products, I've used several books, and the graphic artist breathes Photoshop, but it's fair to say that Dreamweaver isn't on my thank-you list!
I'd also like to thank a lot of people, you don't know who you are, and you don't know what you contributed, and I don't know where you are and who all of you are, but to the people who helped, THANKS I couldn't have done it without you...
And the site is... Well I'm not actually happy with it, so until I've done more stuff on it, I'm not telling anyone... :-)
