I was going to write a little Perl Success Story up this weekend, about a project we ran at work, however when I got home on Friday, my father called to tell me that my mother had just died from a heart attack, an hour or so earlier. I'm still a little dazed, so the story will follow later.
From my earliest childhood, I had grand ideas about how I was going to make my fortune with my "latest project". I've not made a fortune yet, but that never stopped mum from believing in me. How ironic on the day I discovered a little Perl script I knocked up for work has had over $12million of revenue "flow" through it, since it went live about 18 months ago, I couldn't tell her.
