Here is a story about Jim Kent, bioinformaticst (sp?)/computer scientist/open data hero. He is giving a keynote address at Oreilly's OSCON. Now if I can just convince my boss to let me go.
Jim and his group at UC Santa Cruz develop/enhance/maintain the UCSC Genome Browser. It's a great tool to visualize the human genome and all its attributes (genes, annotation information,etc). I use it almost everyday for my job.
