Regexp::English does this. It's pretty painful for the short stuff, though I like bound variables quite a bit.

No, that's regexes. Surely you mean "zero or more characters"?

Incidentally, is septate a technical term, or a typo for separate?

(I don't MEAN to find all these typos, really I don't! It's my upbringing! Society is to blame!)

So obviously Perl has many septate languages, of which only two are listed above. It's not unreasonable to assume the regexps are the other one.
