Dear me, I know way too much low level information about PDF and Flash. Anyway, when Macromedia Flash became Adobe Flash in 2005 I assumed that Adobe would add lots of cool features to Flash along the lines of neat photo editing or text layout. Turns out we have to wait for the Flash 10, which will have Astro, an advanced text layout engine, and AIF, a hardware-accelerated graphics programming language along the lines of GLSL. Looks neat, but maybe it's too little too late?
