I didn't go to JavaOne this year either, but I love that I can check out the slides. Things which interest me:

• Project Phobos: Server-Side Scripting for the Java Platform in which Sun say that scripting (mostly JavaScript, hmm) might be useful on the backend
• Jython and Java Technology: Plug-and-Play
• Cool Things You Can Do with the Groovy Dynamic Language, which is all about Java people realising that dynamic languages rock
• Advanced Groovy
• Xen and the Art of Distributed Virtual Machine Management, or how to build your own compute cloud
• "Everything Java": JPC, a Fast x86 PC Emulator, which rocks. Contains the great quote: "Running DOS games has proven to be very popular". Try out JPC yourself to see.
• Bytecode Manipulation Techniques for Dynamic Applications for the Java Virtual Machine
