I like conferences. I didn't really go to WWW2006 in Edinburgh or JavaONE in San Francisco but I can access their slides (username contentbuilder, password doc789) from the comfort of my couch. I reckon the best presentation in JavaONE was Sigrid: The Simplest Possible Grid Computing Platform by Tim Bray. He's since done a nice writeup of the first half of his talk. Sounds promising. Short summary: grid systems are too complicated right now. Now all I need is a few thousand servers to play with...
