Why don't all printers print full bleed? Why don't all printers come with an ethernet port? Why do printers have such crappy software? Time to start a printer company...

Answers to your three questions: money, money and money. All three of those features are available if you are willing to pay for them.
One word - Kinko's

If I need to print something, I email it to myself, then go to Kinko's or someplace similar and use the facilities there. There are several advantages if you don't have to print more than a couple times a month:
- You don't run the risk of mucking up your computer by installing questionable 3rd party software on it (or more importantly wasting your time dealing with the situation)
- You don't have to deal with getting taken to the cleaners for ink cartridge replacement (which nowadays ship with timer chips making it more likely that the timer will run out before the ink does)
- Chances are if you don't print on a daily basis the total cost will be lower, since ink cartridges run about $30 and never last more than a year. To say nothing of the absolute headache 90% of the printers out there imbue upon their users.
ethernet printers

I've been shopping for printers a couple of times the last months and I noticed that at least ethernet isn't a "high end" feature anymore.
