Having used Linux on laptops for coming on ten years now, I have been completely amazed by how well Ubuntu Breezy Just Works. I installed it onto my new work laptop and I'm very happy. Things like sound, graphics card, USB devices, dual head and suspend-to-disk even the special keys work. This is scary. Gnome is much improved and it's basically a wonderful OS to work on. The 6-month release cycle is great and all the packages I want are available.
Seeing as how my PowerBook drive is dying again, I'm really tempted to follow jerakeen's idea and get a Dell X1 (don't worry, it's really a Samsung) and finally have an ultralight, powerful (compared to the PowerBook) laptop.
In portable-gaming-related-news, Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories for the PSP is very very good indeed...
