Today Arthur, James and I spent the whole day traveling to Portland for OSCON. I think I've actually been up for 26 or so hours straight, so clearly the first thing we did was hit the bars. We're not staying in the conference hotel (we're staying in the Mark Spencer Hotel, which shall for onwards be known as the Marks & Sparks hotel). James and I wandered the streets of Portland which seems very nice and European. We ended up in a weird bar called Lotus where we were both confused and weirded out by a) Fat Tuesdays b) being given beads upon entering c) napkins being thrown everywhere d) hen nights and e) meeting a Canadian there. I like the fact that there are still people on the streets at 3am. James doesn't like the fact that the bar closed at 2.30am ;-)
Oh well, at least we're here. OSCON is going to be a lot of fun this year and I'm really looking forward to it all. And with any luck, we'll have gotten over the jet lag...
