"After two days in the desert sun
My skin began to turn red
After three days in the desert fun
I was looking at a river bed"
-- America

With apologies to Dave Quinn:

A baby camel was reaching that age where she was becoming self-aware, and so she queried of her momma,

"Momma, why do I have these long eyelashes?"

To which the mother camel replied,

"It's to protect your eyes from the harsh sand, when the desert wind blow."

The baby camel pondered that answer, and asked,

"Momma, why do I have these big feet?"

To which the mother camel replied,

"They're to keep you from sinking into the soft desert sand."

The baby camel pondered that answer, as well. She then asked,

"Momma, why do I have this big hump on my back?"

To which the mother replied,

"It's to keep you nourished in the dry, desolate desert."

The baby camel pondered all these questions for several minutes.

"Momma," she questioned, "if we've a big hump for keeping us alive in the desert, and big feet to keep atop the desert sand, and long eyelashes to protect our eyes from the blowing sand, why are we in the San Diego Zoo?"

Looking forward to my second TPC even more than the first.
