I flew up to my out-of-state client[1] on Monday and returned Tuesday. While there, I asked for remote access, and a list of servers and databases I would need to look at. The technical person was distracted with a problem, and promised, "I'll get it all to you in an email tonight. It's no big deal."
Wednesday morning, no email. But at least the VPN client appears to work. I send an email, and get a bounce message saying he's on vacation last week. So I called. "Oh yeah, I'll get it to you today."
I got an email this morning with the database names, but no logins or passwords.... But at least my reply of "Um, this doesn't help much" didn't bounce.
I think my summary report is going to begin by pointing out their problems are organizational, not technical.
[1] No, it's not Portland, darn it.
