Since I have a little free time left on my hands, I decided to spend some of it on making my Fedora Core 2 machine work a little better. With the help of the Unofficial Fedora FAQ, I installed the new nVidia driver, upgraded yum, and cleaned up a bunch of stuff. Now the box's usability is almost up to the level of when it was running RH 7.3. ;-)
I picked up the leads for most of the changes from a Slashdot article. Reading it also made me think there's still a good reason to scan Slashdot occasionally. (The articles themselves, that is; the comments I continue to find pretty worthless, even with my threshold set to +2.)
Set your threshold to +4! +2 is like licking the top layer of the pile of scum on the bottom.
I browse at +4 and almost never notice junk; it always seems strange to me when I hear people saying they don't like slashdot because of the comments.
