So I'm still looking for a contract gig. I thought I had a pretty strong lead, but it hasn't panned out. The manager doesn't seem good at returning calls or emails. I wrote to him, and he replied a week later asking questions that were answered in my original email. Same with phone calls. Doesn't bode well.
I've been calling most everyone I know, and going thru web boards. One of the things that gets me is the unbelievably low rates people are asking for. The last time I charged rates like that was 1988, when I was just getting started. But people are comparing my rates to what they can get off-shore, regardless of all other considerations (availability, quality, communication). Sigh.
But at this stage, I'm thinking a low rate is better than a zero rate....
