Dear Log,
I took advantage of all the sunshine today and took a walk on the beach and thru the abandoned mining complex here. You'd expect it to be all tunnels and whatnot, but by now, after eighty years of freezethaw, moss, rust, sea air, and seawater, it's just a few stumps where the pier was, and three or four nuked-looking buildings -- or rather, the concrete part of them that's still left. And occasionally a bit of heavy machinery turning back into metal in the ground.
Hopefully all the mercury that the mining operation used, has long ago washed away.
