Random theory: the current India/Pakistan tussle is a red herring, deliberately designed to distract from the Afghanistan mess and the Palestine-Israel mess.
It seems an obvious solution to a basic problem: warmongering rabble in India and Pakistan, and leaders who (at least in Musharraf's case) don't want to look meek in the eyes of their respective rabbles. So, with this "conflict", each little junta gets to do some very stern-looking posturing, it distracts the Yurpeenz and other forces of fecklessness from other more inconvenient topics, and everyone (sleazy) is happy -- as long as the nuclear missile launch codes are kept under raps. Note to self: change the launch codes and count the silverware.
If there's a distraction from the Israel-Palestine business, it's the announcement of a non-arab muslim captured upon his return from Pakistan a month ago because he said something about a dirt bomb.
