Dear Log,
Bookstore run! Hooboy!
A great haul today from the used bookstore:
- A really fine and interesting Malay <-> English dictionary. Quite surprising, since it's from Hippocrene Books, who are usually the Typhoid Mary of lexicography.
- A fun little book on Tagalog -- with totally Laugh-In stylee psychedelic cover art. Sock it to me! As Kommissar of Pod, I hereby decree that henceforth, all computer books should have that kind of cover art. All who resist will be given penalties of TORTURE.
- Abbot and Mansfield's A Primer of [Ancient] Greek Grammar. Great big handy tables for declensions and conjugations.
- A medium-sized [Modern-]Greek <-> English dictionary, from Oxford Univ. Press. I'd been on the lookout for a nice cheap Modern Greek dictionary, and finally found this. It's a 2000 edition, so it even has the new simplified (monotonic) orthography! OPAH!
Total cost of this shopping expedition: twenty-four of your Earth "dollars".
Dinner tonight:
Hopi Omelette. Instead of green onions, I'm using some minced leek-whites, fried up with a bit of Thai na-rog (red chili paste, etc), which smells a bit like chorizo.
