Engrish pleas

Dear Log,

A few days ago, before the season's last cruise ship left, I was walking in the Tourist Containment Zone of Ketchikan, and I saw some marked-down t-shirts that read "Somebody in Alaska love me!".

Sic.

The first three or four times I walked past the store, I read it as just a typo produced by the usual combination of Asian slave-labor and a lack of proofreading.

But then I saw it as a use of the subjunctive, making it some kind of desperate plea -- (Spanish "Alguien en Alaska me ame!" or Latin "Aliquis in Alaska me amet!", meaning "If only someone in Alaska would love me!" or just "Somebody in Alaska, love me!!!"

And that is why it is important to know a good proofreader.
