On the jukebox: Tom Waits, "Komme Nie Zu Spät", off of Alice DemosAutrijus Tang and friends are working on a Chinese translation of Learnig Perl. I hope tens of millions of 12-year-olds in East Asia bug their parents to buy them that book, and that they thereby obtain slack thru Perl.
On the other hand, some sinister part of me (which is most of me, some days) hopes that the stomping drooling halfwits in the PRC's government (who have such a bright future behind them) will decide that Open Source is a bizarre subversive anti-revolutionary cult -- you know, like the Falun Gong and Oprahism -- and will vow to crush it! CRUSH CRUSH CRUSH those cyber-imperialist roustabouts!
It'd get Perl some serious street cred. "We're so cool that we're illegal in China!". But then,
