Upper Volta for-ever

On the jukebox: Underworld, "Pearl's Girl", off of Second Toughest In The Infants

Me and a (here pseudonymized) school chum chatting:

Mobab von Hoffman: ...He was angry that she wasn't going to sleep with him, and he was leaving her this note. I don't remember the exact content any more, but it was in the top quartile on the passive-agressive scale.
Nothing direct like "I am angry" or "I want to fuck you". It was very cryptic, and blatant in its crypticness.

TorgoX: Oh, I know what you mean. The sort of thing you'd expect to find in the halls [back in our high school]?

Mobab von Hoffman: Maybe. I associate it more with folks in their early twenties.
When high school kids do it, it's unintentional.

TorgoX: I find that as I age, when faced with awkward situations, I stylistically turn into a charming old English lady from 1910. "Dear Albert, I most enjoyed our outing to the Botanical Exhibition. The omnibus ride was quite something! I will miss you so when I leave permanently for Upper Volta next week for-ever, but I shall try to write you a hello post-card and hope the post there will deliver it!" Etc.
