Students of language design should have a look at Self, the weird little classless-OO language that could.
There's some nice papers on Self in here, but they're all in .ps.Z and the like, so I went and bulk-converted them to PDF for easier browsing over here. (Wget it if you like that sort of thing; altogether it's about 12MB in 56 files.)
