Dear Log,
I have to admit that the maybe-someone-abused-a-copy-of-the-Koran shtik is the most artful piece of disinformation I've ever seen.
It means everything to everyone. It invites Moslem plebians to vent angrily, and it invites everyone else to mock them not just for their primitive magical thinking (what with mistaking a tatty bunch of paper for the ahem Holy Text that it's an edition of), but also for the fact that the "abuse" probably/possibly/maybe never happened. It goads the "Jesus, Fuck Yeah" dorks into seething about how nobody woulda made a ruckus if it twere a Bible. It turns reality into what was called "knowing / not-knowing" in the Dirty Wars of South America.
And, firstly and finally, it is a brilliantly effective distraction from the Grand Fact: prison camps and torture. Yay!
