The Powell Doctrine

Dear Log,

«No [US] conservative has questioned whether the Executive Branch has the power to make an enemies list of suspects, without warrants, charges, proof, judges, juries, or convictions, and deny fundamental constitutional rights to the people on that list. I question it. Will you?»
--"The Safe Side of the ID Debate"
US conservatives' highest belief is in Ronald Reagan's eleventh commandment: thou shall not speak ill of other Republicans. US politics is beyond repair, so I will point this out for future and foreign readers: that eleventh commandment is the best recipe for instant, total, and permanent corruption; and any group that works on that principle will come to have only two kinds of people: madmen, and their enablers -- in other words, their collaborators.

I call this The Powell Doctrine.
