Enough with the high bitrates.
I know you're proud of that Hall & Oats cassette you've had forever!, and thanks for sharing it -- but when you mp3'd it, you really didn't need to compress it at a constant 320 kilobits per second. I really think that a variable bitrate compression averaging maybe 140 kbps would be more than enough to lovingly preserve every musical detail of "Private Eyes" as well as exactly reproducing the tape hiss underneath it.
Also, that mp3 of the time in 1988 when Emilio Estevez was on "Loveline" just did not have to be compressed at CBR 190kbps. I think it would still have worked fine at a VBR 96 kbps... maybe even less!
Do a "Pepsi challenge" with lower bitrates and VBR -- I think you'll be pleasantly surprised.
