Always at war with Eastasia

Dear Log,

«Mr Chirac says talk of independence in Taiwan is "irresponsible". And he is pushing for the EU's post-Tiananmen embargo on arms sales to be lifted. That raises the extraordinary prospect of the US arming Taiwan while the EU arms China.»

--"Will Taiwan be a pawn for the superpowers?"

Hey heeey, why all the fightin'? Why can't everybody sell death-rays to both histrionic lunatic governments? Maybe give everyone some good homestyle bioweapons too. And why keep North Korea out of the fun too?

Next step: profit! Or a billion dead in East Asia, whichever. (Note to self: be careful with ententes cordiales. Sometimes those don't work out so well.)

In other news: I'm trying to work myself out of the mire that is the current version of the XML::RSS::Timing* modules. I keep vacillating between Scylla ("I'm better off just throw out all the old code and start over") and Charybdis ("I think I can just change one line in the old code and it'll do what I need"). I'm trying to work instead on tests for what I want, before I do anything implementationally.

That's just crazy talk!
