I miss those sorta 1985 fan-feed PrintShop banners. The kind that used bunches of ###'s and stuff to spell out "ROCK ON, PRE-ALGEBRA ALL STARS" or whatever.
And yes, you can use banner and enscript to make those. But then I thought, I don't want to emulate 1980s technology using 1970s printer styles! I want to fast-forward into using PostScript and GhostScript, 1990s technology for 1980s printer styles!
So I hand-hacked up this PostScript file as I was waiting for a call-back the other day: big_banner_editable.ps
You can edit the "Banner message here" line to say whatever you want, and the PostScript code will use magic and spacial arithmetic to properly print that text in super-sized letters (in whatever font you choose) on however, many pages that the message will take.
I'm sure this has been done before, but googling on "PostScript banner turns up a huge sea of PostScript banners -- but banners not in my sense, but in the sense of the cover-page that gets stuck on at the beginning of a print job on a shared printer.
Therefore, in conclusion, I am the superstar of your PostScript printer.
