Perl policy

Dear Log,

The Perl-relevance of the previous entry is clearer when you consider that the Perl community is not a democracy. It, like the criticized European Monetary Union's controllers, are a "policy elite", not people that got voted in. The difference is that anyone with an email account can show up where the Perl policy elite are (i.e., p5p et al), and start talking (altho people are quite free to completely ignore you).

economics isn't really about money either :)

It's more like an amalgam of human behavioural science, politics, civics and history. The economic principles popular today for predicting world markets may also be applied to the perl proletariat and the occasionally benevolent parliament.

So, you either make the right friends at the right time, engineer a swelling of social acceptance that may lead to the aforementioned or you have the conviction of an idea whose time may yet come....or not.
