Dear Log,
The weather was perfect here today, like a nice cup of tea. Juneau has more accessable forests and whatnot, but the texture of the sunlight here is, as they say in audio editing, "bigger".
So today I went into the yard and planted some gladiolus bulbs I got earlier and was holding until I was fairly sure there wouldn't be many more frosty nights.
I'm not the only one who's noticed that the soil here is full of earthworms: the day before yesterday about two dozen birds crowded into my yard and were picking giddily at the soil. HOMPH HOMPH HOMPH.
