This kind of dispute is as old as the Académie itself -- the most notorious being the one between Nicolas Boileau-Despréeaux and Charles Perrault. Both, however, were skilled writers, which is not the case of VGE.

The Académie was, by the way, created by Richelieu as a propaganda instrument. It was already obsolete by the end of the XVIIth century.

I think the Akademi Franse needs to reedem itself in a style fitting to this century -- by providing us some violent entertainment. I desire televised debates over the points of supposed linguistic contention, with intractible disputes settled with machete-fights. To the death. The machetes must be not terribly sharp. We don't want things to go too quick.

Because you think this doesn't exist already ? Usually they even add a couple of jesuit ninjas to the pack.
