Dear Log,
There has been totally freakish weather this week: CLEAR SKIES. Direct sunlight during the day, and auroras and stars at night -- things I haven't seen three times in the past six months!
So the other day, I went to the beach. And then today, I went to the beach again. OH GOD I'M OUT OF CONTROL.
My amusement at the beach is playing with the sand and thinking about how it's not natural, but was instead formed by thirty years of industrial gold mining about a century ago. They had huge operations that pulverized massive amounts of rock to chemically extract the gold. The resulting sand was made into this beach.
But it looks like normal natural sand to me.
Meanwhile, I see this headline: "Juneau police to be first in Alaska to experiment with Segway scooter patrols: Officers to begin using scooters on patrol downtown next Friday"
