Dear Log,
I relaxed today. I walked the few hundred feet to the beach, at 7am, and relaxed and read last month's Atlantic Monthly, notably the article about the supposedly almost imminent collapse of Sa'ud royal government. I hung out about two hours, occasionally shooing away sand flies, and then went back in when it got a bit cloudy and I'd finished the bigger article. It was restful.
Most depressing notion I've come up with today: Short of catastrophe and more insipid than spam, there will always Cory Doctorow around, weighing in on sententious matters that were just barely interesting for a few minutes about ten years ago. Boy, I can't wait until 2011 when he'll start declaring the "death of irony". Maybe we'll read about it on Usenet 2! At least with Eric Raymond, you can assume that odds are there'll be some sort of nasty Squeaky Fromme / Valerie Solanas endgame, but this seems unlikely with Doctorow.
