Dear Log,
MERE PROSE cannot express the guffaws I have experienced (EARNED!) from this story at PBS News. Here are the highlights:
"Never till now was I shamed by the name of poet."
"Poet Joseph Bottum, an editor at The Weekly Standard Magazine, fears the tone of the dissent will hurt poetry's public role"
"Is not a poet a truth-teller, a seer of inner visions?"
"I personally am enormously disappointed by this use of poetry, in a kind of [scrunch up face] 1970s or 1980s way, to think that poets somehow have to be in dissent."
Newshour

I've been watching Newshour for my nightly news roundup lately
... everyone else mostly sucks. It seems like Andrea Mitchell, who has been covering the UN for NBC and is married to Fed Head Greenspan, gets at least one fact incorrect in her report each night.
Anyway, yes, that story pleased me. I was hoping they would wrap up by interviewing
John Mellencamp, but no luck.
Bulwer-Litton fodder

Why do they make this smell, like the back seat of a taxi? Truly godlike poesy.
