It's a particularly good validator. It caught some odd issues in my RSS feeds at one point, things I had no idea were an issue. Unless you really know RSS like the back of your hand (e.g., you are a member of the RSS 1.0 working group), you should use it to doublecheck your work.

And since RSS v1.0 is just RDF you can also use the
RDF validator at the W3C. It's particularly cool because it draws a graph of your RDF/RSS in addition to validating it.

It is very nice. Unfortunately it does has some nasty RSS 2.0 biases built into it. You rarely stumble over them, but when you do its frustrating.
We're thinking about porting it to Perl (for the XML::RSS 2.01 release
