I rather foolishly volunteered to organise and speak at the first Devon and Cornwall Perl Mongers Technical Talk.
To make matters worse, I didn't have time to work on the talks before I went on holiday to Rome, and on my return was so busy and tired I barely managed to put together a handful of slides before the day itself
Fortunately I arrived on time, despite a lot of roadworks and speedcameras, and the projector worked fine when I eventually located the right button on my latop - that and 30 minutes to polish my slides and I managed a rambling and hand-wavey introduction to how and why you'd want to get started with Maypole
Afterwoods I spoke to Barbie and others about Maypole and 'The Pirate', my dad's pub a few years back... then a 90 minute drive in the dark and rain back to Truro, where I managed to get my first nights decent sleep in several days
