I've been reading Stephen Jenkins' article on a distributed event log viewer in DDJ, and it looks really useful - unfortunately it only describes the system loosely - I believe more detail was in the YAPC '99 talk but I can only find the abstract and no materials or even the slides of the presentation.
I'll be disappointed if I have to implement the same thing again, based on a couple of pages of handwaving in DDJ. *sigh*
