Somebody just mentioned The Worshipful Company of Information Technologists, far more interesting than BCS or ACM and more inline with how I see the perl mongers. They have a journeyman scheme which I might very well join (being between 25 and 35), and having been a journeyman in all but name (having worked in Bristol, Truro, Bracknell, and all over London) in the past and lived where the work was.
