UK patents bill

I just read through a fair ammount of the 2nd reading of the Patents Bill in the house of commons.

The only mention of Software patents comes from a Labour MP with concerns about it. He gets the usual misleading nonsense about software not being any more patentable than before and requiring it be 'Novel' -- in anybody elses world this means that software is now patentable and that rather than clarifying they are muddying the waters further and likely to increase patenting of software.

No liberal democrats had enough clue or interest to follow this up, disappointing as the people who care most about this issue are likely to be natural supporters or at least waverers who could maybe vote for them if they just stood up and did something.

Doesn't look like any of the press seem to have noticed all this slipping into our law.
