Imagine my surprise when coming to the end of a good DDJ article and discovering perl source code at the end.
Then, only a dozen pages later, once again I find more perl source.
Of course the articles aren't about perl, they are about solving a particular problem, unlike like, say, the windows usb article which is about using a specific language on a specific platform to talk to USB, or any of the countless Java articles on how to get around its many limitations or describing a new Java product or library.
I think it says something about perl, when the article is several pages about a problem and the solution is a short perl script at the end, rather than a long discussion on the ins-and-outs of a languages peculiarity or features.
Of course I'd like to see more C and C++ content, because C and C++ can easily be ported to perl or called via XS, unlike Java and C# which simply don't mix with anything else.
