The alternative is having the EU make the same laws. Stupid laws reliably get made one way or another (or both).

I think the true meaning of that "We are all Americans now!" smarm is that now Europe will have the same insane scrum of local, county, state, and federal laws to deal with, all interrelating in mind-bending ways.

It's England, Northern Ireland, Scotland and the rest of the EU as far as I can tell. And the stuff that's being banned is Konnyaku, so that's a bunch of dishes we'll no longer being able to eat at the Gonebei...
