Gating email to news is HARD!
-- Gateway Barbie
We gateway the perl.org mailing lists to our internal news server, and then off into the wilds of usenet where it ends up at google eventually. Sadly, nntp isn't as flexible as email, and will quickly reject a message that doesn't perfectly adhere to the spec.
Anyone want to write us a news message sanitizer?
(Is a message with munged headers that makes it to google better than no message at all?)
It is from my point of view

I really don't want to have to go back to searching through the archive by hand to sort out URLs for the Perl 6 summaries. Of course, if you could index the archives on message-ID then there wouldn't be a problem.
There's no place like the code.

But Dorothy,
You've always had the ability to index by message-ID...

Oh. Cool. Shame it doesn't show threading. (I know, never bloody satisfied, that's me.)
nice threads, barbie

I've got the threading code written and mostly done, but ran out of time to finalize it -- if anyone wants to work on this, let me know.
