I had dinner tonight in a cellular black hole. There was no signal. No TDMA. No CDMA. And no analog (AMPS). I think this is the first time I've ever been anywhere that could even vaguely be described as "civilization" where I didn't at least have an analog fallback signal. To find a signal, I had to drive several miles.
To be fair, this was almost the middle of nowhere, in an area full of dark twisty roads and canyons where you can easily teach your car to fly. But still, a fancy-ish French restaurant counts as civilization in my book. (N34 30.646 W118 21.384)
It makes me wonder, where else might my phone not work?
