TimeZone Rant

Well, now that I've got my Flash Rant solved (thanks, guys!), how about let's talk about timezones?

Two big soccer (football for you non-Merks) games tomorrow (or today, depending on your locale): England vs. Brazil and Germany vs. USA. It doesn't get any better than that, save for the fact that I live 11 hours behind the action, so that means I'm waking up tomorrow at 2:30am to watch one match and come in late to work to make the other.

Sure, they offer same-day delays, but still at odd hours (1pm? ... hello? I'm still at work!).

Won't be any better at the next World Cup ... Germany's 6 hours ahead of us, so while no 2:30am games, they'll still be in the middle of the day. Maybe I need to find a job w/ FIFA... I hear they may be looking for new referees. ;)

PS: Did you know that "soccer" derived from England, rather than America? Well, it's true!

Deutchland v USA

The local media is announcing that they're going to be showing the Germany / US game live on the big screen at RFK stadium.[1]

2:30am, free of charge.

[1]: I'll probably practice my spanish instead.

Hmmm ... RFK's about 6 hours away from me, so that would be a little TOO extreme, but I bet that would make an awesome environment to be in, watching the game among soccer fans! I envy you ... they did something similar here when the Carolina Hurricanes played away games (opening up the ESA and showing the game on big screens), but nothing for soccer.

We have the same problem

We're at work for most of the games.

Luckily in England at the moment we are enjoying a great deal of liberalism in clock watching, which puts everybody in a good mood.

Anyway, here's hoping that England do it tomorrow!
