Cookin' & mod_perl

I've just stumbled into IRC (yes, another thing I'm late to the party on ;)) and love the #axkit[-dahut] & #london.pm channels. Good for interactive help when you come across stumbling blocks. Thanks ct & darobin!

I got home around 5:30p today and cooked for about 2.5 hours straight - started off baking some molasses cookies and ended up grillin' some BBQ Chicken. The pressure cooker's going in the background, making yummy stock from the leftover carcass (yes, I'm a carnivore!).

Perlwise, I tackled mod_perl today. Nothing public, I'm afraid, but it will be a database-heavy program, where my manager can oversee over 2000 "restaurant names" and if there are slight variations (ie: McDonalds vs. McDonald's), he can merge the two. I choose to tackle mod_perl with this since there was a lot of initialization work, in collecting the list of restaurant names, etc. Now I have to figure out how to get it to work in multiple steps (it's a form, referencing itself - so I need to use CGI [I suppose] and check for a hidden field where I tell it that it needs to process).

At 3:15, our internet service cut off - our DSL provider was having problems. I hung around until 4:45, when it appeared that it wouldn't be fixed in the near future, and left for home.

Busy Monday... looking forward to getting back to work tomorrow and wrestling more with mod_perl.
