Twitter invitation security wtf

Since a lot of the cool kids are doing it, I signed up with twitter as redhotpenguin. Fairly painless setup but when I went to send invitations, it wants to search my web mail and needs my login info. There's a short spiel about email security, but they want me to enter my credentials over http, not https! That's almost as bad as companies that store your password unencrypted in their database.

They're down frequently. Their error page appears randomly. They need extremely frequent planned outages which get extended then spill over into another planned outage days later. Some times, SMS messages don't go out for hours then theyf flood. Yeah, I don't think I'd trust them with my email password either...
